TREE DONATION - REGIONAL CLIMATE PROTECTION
Regional climate protection through reforestation! As a strongly rooted renewable energy player, we are determined to underpin our daily green business case with green and social projects. And the best way to do that is on our doorstep. Better said in Berlin and Brandenburg. For some, climate change is still a long way off. But for us and our customers, just looking outside our front doors is enough to see that climate change has unfortunately already reached our forests. For us it is clear that we want to change something together with our partner for tree donations (VIVA LA WALD) and for example build a living bridge between many stakeholders to plant a sustainable forest. With the offered sustainable and regional reforestation projects we want to restructure the planted forest to make it more resistant to drought and pests. We want our forests to become a source of clean air again, in addition to safeguarding and developing biodiversity.
THE B+K RAFFLES CLIMATE TREES ON LINKEDIN.
A few weeks ago, we had something to celebrate: we welcomed our 500th follower on our LinkedIn profile. On the occasion of the follower milestone, our team thought about giving away a small gift, which would also do something for our regional forests at the same time. Therefore, in cooperation with the actors of Viva la Wald, we “symbolically” gave away a beech tree, which will be planted in the regional environment of our company and we can thus actively and immediately make another small contribution against global climate change! We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the marketing agency move:elevator from Dresden and wish them much joy in caring for “your tree”!
WHY IS THE NATIVE FOREST TOO IMPORTANT?
Each tree can absorb about 15 kg of CO2, sulfur dioxide or carbon monoxide annually and in return returns up to 10,000 liters of oxygen O2 to our atmosphere. But that is not all! For example, forests ensure that clouds are formed and that it rains. And how do you do that? Each tree can evaporate just under 200-300 liters of water a day. The trees transport the water from the earth to the tree top, where it evaporates and enters the atmosphere. The described humidity creates clouds and thus later the rain. In addition, the clouds reflect solar radiation, which then causes the earth to heat up less.
WOOD - THE NATURAL RAW MATERIAL!
Wood has served mankind as a universal raw material for centuries. The advantage of processing wood is that the CO2 stored in the wood over the years is not released again, but remains stored in the wood. However, when trees rot in the forest, all the CO2 is released again. For example, a single chair or table can serve as a store of up to 100 kg of CO2.
Wood also has a positive CO2 balance in contrast to other raw materials, since little energy is required in the actual processing of the wood. In addition, the wood for sawmills and other industries is usually sourced from within a radius of 200 km. Thus, in combination with our combined heat and power plant (CHP) ClinX then we also want to close the loop between wood use or wood utilization holistically.
