BIOMASS CHP SWITZERLAND | REFERENCE CUSTOMER REPORT
Reference project biomass CHP Switzerland: Sustainable energy generation locally and efficiently. Decentralized energy generation is becoming increasingly important in Switzerland. This development is underpinned by innovative projects, such as our ClinX WOOD biomass cogeneration plant, which not only relies on renewable energy but also achieves a new level of efficiency by using local resources. Together with our partner, SWISS ClinX, we are pleased to be able to make a small but significant contribution to sustainable energy policy in Switzerland.
FROM GERMANY TO SWITZERLAND: TWO SHIPPING CONTAINERS FILLED WITH INNOVATIVE CLEANTECH TECHNOLOGY FROM COTTBUS.
The impressive feature of this project is its ability to generate sustainable energy in the form of electricity and heat from local wood waste. By using wood waste from the immediate vicinity as fuel, transportation routes are significantly shortened. This local approach not only reduces logistical costs, but also significantly minimizes CO2 emissions and effectively recycles previously unused waste materials.
A special feature of ClinX is the recirculation of the hot air flow, which is fed back from the turbine into the combustion chamber at temperatures above 500°C. This reuse as primary and secondary air ensures extremely stable combustion. As a result, not only wood chips can be burned efficiently, but also problematic materials such as waste wood or bark infested by bark beetles. The clear separation of exhaust gases and hot air in the turbine process prevents the occurrence of impurities such as tar or condensate in the turbine. Thanks to this innovative method, the systems comply with the Clean Air Ordinance (LRV) and the use of additional electrostatic precipitators ensures that the legal requirements are met on site. The Ordinance on Air Pollution Control (LRV) is a Swiss ordinance that aims to protect humans, animals, plants and soil from the harmful and annoying effects of air pollutants. It sets emission limits for various air pollutants, which must be adhered to and monitored by the authorities.
Another cornerstone of the ClinX biomass CHP is undoubtedly the externally fired micro gas turbine, which converts thermal energy into electricity. The use of innovative air bearings in these turbines marks a breakthrough, as lubricants and coolants can be dispensed with. This environmentally friendly mode of operation not only leads to lower maintenance costs, but also to a longer service life for the plant.

TECHNICAL DATA:
- System type: 1 x ClinX WOOD 150
- Fuel type: Regional forest chips
- Gross electrical output: 150 kW
- Net electrical output: 130 kW
- Thermal output depending on wood quality and moisture: 287 – 392 kW
- Scope of delivery: Biomass furnace, high-temperature heat exchanger, 150 kW micro gas turbine, 2 x economizers to increase heat extraction, dust separator, chimney, control unit, 2 x 40′ containers
The use of ClinX WOOD offers a number of advantages. In addition to saving CO2, this technology also promotes independence from fossil fuels. A special feature of the biomass CHP project in Switzerland is that the customer sells the decoupled heat from biomass energy generation to a nearby chocolate factory, thereby taking over an important part of the local heat supply! The containerized design of the energy systems also reduces ClinX’s dependence on centralized energy sources and supports the local economy by drawing on regional resources. The Swiss project illustrates how a sustainable energy supply can be achieved through innovative technologies and the sensible use of local resources.
Note: The realization of this groundbreaking project was ensured by our distributor Swiss ClinX GmbH. We would like to take this opportunity to say “Mèrssi” once again!
