TIRE PYROLYSIS PYRUM | B+K SUPPLIES ENERGY CONVERTER
B+K supplies key technology for one of the most sought-after decarbonization projects in Germany.
Our customer, Pyrum Innovations AG, is not only a well-known name in the cleantech industry. With the nomination as the only German representative for the prestigious “Rising Star” Award, the company again receives positive tailwind in the entire public communication around the topic of decarbonization technologies. We are all the more proud to be able to supply Pyrum Innovations AG with one of the key components for the tire pyrolysis process used. Pyrum is a waste management company that specializes in the disposal of used tires (Pyrum’s customers include tire manufacturers Michelin and Continental).
ENERGY RECOVERY THANKS TO MICRO GAS TURBINES “MADE IN GERMANY”.
With the innovative pyrolysis process, raw materials of high quality can be obtained from used tires, rubber and plastic waste in an environmentally friendly manner, which can then be returned to the material cycle. In the pyrolysis plant, the pyrolysis process produces three material streams: pyrolysis gas, pyrolysis oil and pyrolysis coke. Thanks to B+K, the gas fraction produced after pyrolysis can be used for energy generation in the future by means of innovative downstream power generation.
An externally fired micro gas turbine installed downstream in the combustion chamber uses the existing heat from the pyrolysis process to generate electricity. In the future, the heat from the flue gas still present after conversion to electricity will be used to supply heat sinks with hot water.
